Broad General Education (S1–S3)
In the Broad General Education, pupils experience a broad and practical Music curriculum focused on performing, creating, listening and using technology creatively.
Learners:
Develop skills on a range of instruments (keyboard, guitar, percussion and voice)
Perform solo and in groups
Compose and arrange their own music
Use music technology and digital software to create and record
Explore music from a variety of styles, genres and cultures
Through active and collaborative learning, pupils build confidence, creativity and an understanding of key musical concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony and structure. These experiences provide strong foundations for progression into the Senior Phase.

Digital Learning
Digital technology is central to both Music and Music Technology. Pupils use professional software for composing, sequencing, recording and editing.
Google Classroom is used to:

Submit compositions and production work
Access listening resources
Receive feedback
Track assessment deadlines
This blended approach supports creativity, independence, and digital fluency.
Extra-Curricular
The Music Department offer a variety of extra-curricular activities where possible. This includes Mallaig’s Got Talent, Christmas Lights Switch On, Pantomime, Visits to Primaries and Mackintosh Centre, Senior Exam Concert, Fèis Oigridh na Mara Concert and more.
